Michael C. Donovan

A celebration of life service for Michael C. Donovan will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev P. J. Curley, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service.

Mr. Donovan died on Friday, February 8, 2013, at River Region Medical Center.  He was 79.

Born in Vicksburg, he was the son of the late Francis "Frank" Donovan and Idell Hall Donovan.  He was a graduate of Carr Central High School, Class of 1952, and later served in the Army.

Mr. Donovan retired from the U. S. Government, Waterways Experiment Station, with 36 years of service in 1989.  He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

He was a member of the Dallas Model Aircraft Association, Tulsa Glue Dobbers Control Line Club and the River City Vicksburg Model Airplane Club.

Mr. Donovan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Coomes Donovan of Vicksburg, three daughters, Sharon Lampkin (Tommy), Theresa Donovan and Susan Woodrick (Mike), all of Vicksburg; two sons, Michael Donovan (Carla) and Paul Donovan, all of Vicksburg, seven grandchildren, Bobby and Brian Lampkin, Stephen Donovan, Jessica Kean, Jennifer and Rachel Bray and Katlyn Donovan, Three great-grandchildren, Shawn and Aiden Kean and Ryan Donovan; and two brothers, William "Bill" Donovan of Houston, Texas, and Francis "Frank" Donovan, Mobile, Ala.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Patrick "Pat" Donovan.

Memorials may be made to charities of choice.

Sorority Sister's Husband Dies

Our sorority sister, Joan Donovan's, husband, Mike passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2013.  He had been in the hospital for a week with the flu and then to Promise for extended care for another week.  He was transferred back to the hospital complaining of chest pains.  They had to put a stint in his heart Wednesday afternoon and he passed away around 2:00 the next morning.  Mike was cremated.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. at Riles Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of service.

Memorials can be made to Charities of Choice.
