James R. Hossley Dies

James R. Hossley died Saturday, June 14, 2015.  He was 78.

Born in Vicksburg, he was the son of the late Harry Halpin Hossley Jr. and Lucille Mondelli Hossley.

He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School in the Class of 1955 and received his degree in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University in 1960.  Mr. Hossley was employed in the structures lab at the Waterways Experiment Station, retiring January 2, 1993, with 31 years of service.

He was a skilled woodworker and an avid gardener growing vegetable to share with his friends.  Mr. Hossley was a dedicated family man with a deep love for his wife, daughters, son, grandchildren and brother. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anita Zorn Hossley, whom he married on May 29, 1965; one son, William Matthew Hossley (Katie); two daughters, Marcia Kay Shingleton (Dr. Bruce) and Margaret Carl Piazza (Mike), eight grandchildren, Ashleigh Nichole Piazza, Anne Stewart Piazza, Elise Michelle Piazza, Robley Bruce Shingleton, Margaret Merriman Shingleton, Mary Elizabeth Shingleton, James Will Hossley and John Matthew Hossley; one brother Joseph Earl Hossley (Mimsey) and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his grandson, William Michael Shingleton.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be Thursday, June 18, 2015, at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father P. J. Curley, pastor, officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am Thursday until the Mass at 11 am.

Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Willie Hughes, Adam Hossley, Richard Hossley, Charles Haley, Eric Holland, Tom Patin, Mark Vispi and Joe Loviza.  Honorary pallbearers are George Zorn, Henry Zorn, Charles Miller, Michael Piazza, Dr. Bruce Shingleton and Mike Reed.
